Fix Missing Teeth with Crowns, Implants and Bridges

Crowns & Bridges

sidebar-neuromuscular-approachTo restore your smile to its original glory and regain your dental health from decayed, broken or missing teeth, we may use crowns and bridges as part of your treatment. Porcelain crowns and bridges look entirely natural and can be inserted seamlessly with Dr Ian Maratos’s advanced expertise. He has also invested in the absolute latest technology and materials for your convenience and comfort such as dental crowns and bridges which are made exclusively from porcelain. This means you get an entirely natural looking smile colour-matched to your natural teeth to ensure seamless results.

The advantages of using porcelain include the fact it is:

  • Strong
  • Durable
  • Stain resistant
  • Natural looking – as it mimics the look of your natural teeth

Crowns

Porcelain crowns are strong, long-lasting ceramic caps that cover a decayed, broken or brittle tooth. Looking as natural as real teeth, crowns restore function and aesthetically enhance your smile by fitting precisely over a tooth.

Crowns are a common treatment and we have systems in place to make the treatment as simple, effective and comfortable as possible. The crowns we use are carefully constructed to match the opposing tooth aesthetically and ensure a correct bite.

At DesignDentistry, a porcelain crown takes two appointments.

The first appointment is where an impression is made of the tooth. Once the impression has been taken and your tooth has been shaped, a temporary crown will be placed over the tooth to protect it while your permanent crown is being made – which ensures your smile will look the same while treatment is being carried out. The second appointment is where the temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is cemented into place.

Bridges

If one or more teeth have been lost, we would recommend either dental implants or a bridge.

A bridge can fill a gap of up to four teeth if there are healthy natural teeth flanking the gap. The bridge will replace your missing teeth and will appear entirely natural. A bridge is an restoration made of porcelain that replaces missing teeth in the most natural way possible. Bridges take two appointments.

A bridge is a prosthetic tooth attached to two dental crowns. The healthy teeth on either side of the gap are prepared for the dental crowns and temporary crowns are placed until the more permanent bridge fixture is ready. At your second appointment the temporary crowns are replaced and the permanent bridge fixture is cemented into place.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are small titanium fixtures which are surgically inserted into your jawbone. Dr Ian Maratos will combine restorative dentistry and design cosmetics to create a tooth that looks natural and is just as functional as your existing teeth. This option is the best option for a missing tooth as the titanium implant will integrate with your natural jaw bone. You can find out more information about our implant dentistry on our dental implants page.

At your consultation, we will discuss the suitability of crowns and bridges for your individual case. Dr Maratos will also use his advanced dentistry knowledge to identify the root causes for problems in your mouth and prevent them from occurring in the future.
